About Us

Who are we?

A Movie A Week is a website dedicated to the appreciation and enjoyment of films, both old and new. Each week a film is chosen, either by the site administrator or by participants of the site.

The site is operated by Shaun Henisey, a film buff living in Oklahoma.

Why are we here?

A Movie A Week is a site that was created for the sole purpose of enriching the lives of those participating with a different film each week. Most of the films will be classics, great movies, or hidden treasures. Many of the films may not be mainstream or accessible to a general audience. In short, A Movie A Week is an online film society- with weekly meetings.

What films are reviewed?

Any film is up for review and analysis. The only criteria is that the film must be available on DVD, Blu-Ray disc, or streaming format. Films may be domestic or foreign, animated or documentary. A film being analyzed on the site does not necessarily imply its greatness, artistic merit, or importance, however the majority of the films discussed on the site will have some artistic merit or cultural significance. Age is not a factor for films being reviewed, nor is the rating of the film. Generally speaking, the reviews and discussions are intended for mature, adult audiences.

How does it work?

The weekly film is reviewed, analyized, and discussed for an entire week, beginning on Sunday.

Every Wednesday the next weeks films will be previewed. This gives participants adequate time to view the film before the discussion begins. The film will be broken down into a formal review, a formal analysis, and a message board where participants can discuss the film.
